| I just got my driver's license, and for my birthday, my family gave me a car - a '91 Chevrolet Cavalier with only 29,000 miles on the speedometer. I've got a part-time job and now they won't have to drive me to work and pick me up. Every summer we drive to the beach for vacation. This year I'll do the driving. Grandmother has been instructing us on driving for three years now. She mostly points out what to watch out for, like the guy turning off the road without first turning on his turn signal. Last year she tried to teach me to drive a straight-drive car. That lasted about fifteen minutes. My car is an automatic and a lot easier to drive, especially when I'm watching other drivers and the road. It's fun, isn't it, driving a car. It's also a little - what we call - tense time. My family's rules aren't too strict. Pay attention at all times. Follow the road rules. Watch the other cars on the road. No talking on cellphone while driving. My next "driving a car" project is to learn how to take care of the VE-HI-CLE! Tires, oil changes, checking all the car fluids, insurance ... well, if I want to drive a car, that's what I have to do. Those are the rules. Will keep you posted. My favorite car on the road today - '98 Jeep Cherokee - Someday!!! http://www.golocalnet.net/drive/ |
